Biography

Vividly Frank is the name under which singer-songwriter Frank van der Burgt releases his music. Encouraged by his friend and fellow musician Lennox Gerritse, he started the project in2010, which led to his debut album With The Rain in 2011. With the help of experienced studio musicians (including Lex Bolderdijk), the album came to life — and it became a major revelation. Legendary mastering engineer Ted Jensen (Sterling Sound, New York — known for Billy Joel, Muse, The Eagles, and many others) mastered With The Rain. In addition to playing all the keyboard and vocal parts himself, Frank also handled the mixing of the entire album.

After a 10-year break and a turbulent period in life — during which Frank rediscovered songwriting and composing, and music proved to be an incredibly powerful emotional outlet — it was time for a second album. Less perfect, but more Frank. Less polished, and far more lived-in and heartfelt. Once again, Lennox Gerritse was a steadfast pillar of support and creative sidekick. The album was largely recorded at Frank’s home with friends and fellow musicians, mixed by Frank himself, and mastered at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. As Frank himself puts it, this record is all about raw emotion rather than technical perfection down to the third decimal place.

Album 3 is almost there. With this new upcoming release in May 2026, Vividly Frank returns to his roots. Growing up on symphonic and melodic pop/rock, Frank is taking a completely different approach on this album. The entire 42-minute composition was written as one continuous piece at the piano and further developed in collaboration with close friends who share the same musical roots. This honest and introspective work dives deep into his soul and his beliefs about the nature of suffering. Titled The Void of Dukkha, the album reaches far beyond music, touching on much deeper philosophical roots.
